Plumbers: More than merely Local plumbers

Plumbing technicians and plumbing contractors aren't necessarily the same thing. When you've got a real leaky spigot, a clogged drain, or another typical pipe joints difficulty, you're most likely handling a plumbing company. Concerning any different give, plumbers are often called only once there is a major plumbing problem or brand new plumbing is being installed in an addition, a new home, or during a major remodeling project. There are certain advantages of hiring one or the other in specific situations, and in some instances, either may have the capacity to repair the problem. There are not many plumbing issues that can be taken lightly, however, and new installations and major plumbing problems are even more serious tasks! Knowing when and if you should call a plumbing contractor is the first step in a quick and effective fix that will last for years.

Plumbing Companies Are Best for Major Plumbing Problems

When it comes to major plumbing problems, certified plumbing contractors are your go-to guys. There's really little need to ask yourself what constitutes a major plumbing problem: When you have got one, you'll probably understand quite rapidly!

Plumbers are not likely to undertake tiny projects for instance a dripping sinks or backed-up shower drains; in most cases, plumbing contractors are only called in for large plumbing issues like removing and replacing faulty septic systems, the total or near total replacement of piping, or the complete recouvrement of radiator heating systems. Occasionally, a smaller plumbing company is headed by a certified plumbing contractor; when you cope with such a company for your smaller plumbing contractor tasks, you may be more comfortable (and perhaps even better served) by sticking with that company for larger issues. However, when major plumbing problems are present, you shouldn't depend on your local handyman to fix the problem as he or she is not likely to have the equipment or maybe human blood power to show good results quick and effectively.

Plumbers achievable Buildings, Major Remodels, and Additions
While they are certainly the right folks to call for major plumbing problems, the majority of the work done by plumbing contractors is focused on completely replacing or newly installing plumbing for an entire room or structure. Here is where plumbing contractors and plumbers are simply not interchangeable; certified plumbing contractors have specific training that the average plumber doesn't have, and it's that training that prepares these professionals for these larger, way more involved employment.

Plumbers in addition turn up in circumstances that lots of house owners would not expect. Propane gas connections as well as flues for heating systems (excluding pressured sky units), installation of water heating units (together with solar power as well as hydronic heating and cooling units), and the installation as well as upkeep of safety devices like gas control valves, water conditioning equipment, back flow prevention equipment, and gas earthquake valves are all jobs where plumbing contractors are likely to play a role.

Hiring a Plumbing contractor Service provider

When you are stepping into a major structure or improvement project or dealing with a major plumbing problem, taking a little time to find the right plumbing contractor could save you plenty of hassle during and after the project. Since the projects these professionals deal with are generally expensive, a bit of legwork before you select your plumbing contractor could end up saving you thousands! Before you hire, get recent references and estimates from at least three different companies, and make sure that you meet together with both equally before you make your final decision. Runion in person provides a significantly better concept of how well this company works with your preferences, and will give you a few suggestions about the service you can expect from each. In many cases, homeowners who meet with each company they get estimates from have no problem telling which company they should hire. And remember, no matter how great an estimate one company offers, a minor prices are no substitute for great services, because you oftentimes end up paying the difference in head aches | severe headaches and miscommunications!

How to make easy Switching A Bathroom Suggestions & Techniques - See More Articles By Plumbing Manager

I happen to be a plumbing engineer for more than twenty five years along with love to send articles out to help home owners or businesses in water system jobs they would like to try them selves to save a few hundred dollars. Replacing a toilet if you have never installed one can be tricky and I have some help tips & tricks to make the job easier.

FINDING The Right Bathroom For Swapping out A TOILET

A lot of customers don't do the investigation before buying a toilet,  they will just go to Home Depot & see the deal and do it now.  When Exchanging a Toilet you want to make sure you do your home work which is very important because of the water savings & the way the toilet flushes.  A lot of toilets in today's world are set up for water savings which then reflects the way your toilet flushes.  I highly recommend a TOTO toilet.  This toilet saves water and has a great flush.  Now the cost of a Toto bathroom may cost more but you do pay for what you get is the bottom line when replacing a toilet.  "Bottom Line"  Now for a lower end toilet which has a great name would be American Standard.  This toilet is a little cheaper but still has both the water savings and a good flush.

STEP 1 ON Changing A TOILET - TOOLS & PARTS

First of most make certain you have all the tools that you need.  Most new toilets include the instruments you need to put together the new toilet.  Then you will need a crescent wrench, small pair of channel locks, flat head screw driver & a handy bucket for water.  If you have one a hand pump which I use to get all the water out of old toilet it so its easier to remove and you won't get water every wear. Also make sure you have a wax wring and an extra set of closet bolts & some caulking.

STEP 3 REPLACING A TOILET - PUTTING TOGETHER NEW TOILET

I always put together the new toilet the instructions come in the box it comes in make sure your new toilet comes with a wax wring.

STEP 4 REPLACING A TOILET

Turn the water off behind the toilet on the water valve called a angle stop before you do any thing else and make sure that valve is off by flushing the old toilet and if the valve is off the tank will not fill up with water.

STEP 5 REPLACING A TOILET - BOLT REMOVAL

There is going to be two caps at the base of each side of the toilet you will want to pop those off with a flat head screw driver & take your crescent wrench and loosen and take the nuts off each side that you popped the finish caps off.

STEP 6 REPLACING A TOILET - Drinking water SUPPLY

Disconnect this type of water offer line that connects too the toilet.  If that angle stop and supply line look old now is the time to replace it. If that's the case I would think about calling your local Plumbing Company.

STEP 7 REPLACING A TOILET - Remove WATER

You will certainly now would like to make sure all the water if taken out of the toilet you can use a cup,  but if you do have a hand pump that's the best way to go. Once water is taken out you can now lift the toilet up and keep it level and carry it out of your home or business.  If you do not keep it level water will spill on to the floor because you may have normal water in the p-trap.

STEP 8 REPLACING A TOILET - Remove OLD TOILET

You may wish to take away the remaining wax left over from the old toilet they you will want in order to take your closet bolts & Washers in which came with your wax shake & the excess set of bolts and nuts that you got and put the bolts on the closet flange slots on each side of the flange. You will now have an extra set of washers & nuts to tighten new toilet down.

STEP 9 REPLACING A TOILET - Deploy NEW TOILET

You are now able to set wax ring on the closet flange & bring in new toilet and line up hole on Replacing a Water Heater toilet to bolts you just set.  Once you have set toilet down anyone would want to sit with the toilet and rock back and forth with your bodyweight just a little to really get that wax shake to set so you have no leaks. You may now use these extra bolts & tighten new toilet down.  You will want to go back and forth on every side as well asand tighten up the bolts a little little bit at a time to make sure the toilet sets level.

STEP 10 REPLACING A TOILET - Offer LINE & BOLT CAPS

You currently may set the finish caps onto the bolts you just tightend down this is to hide the bolts to make in order to toilet to look finished.  You then can hook up water supply & turn the water on. You will want to flush a couple of times to make sure everything is working properly before you caulk the bottom of the toilet because that may become a mess. If all is working properly go ahead and caulk the bottom of the toilet and let it dry for an hour and your good to go.

If You Have an Emergency Plumber Situation Then Its Time To Call A Plumber

Not enough people ever plan on needing an emergency plumbing service, that isn't unusual but simply human nature. Society, in general, pays little attention to things like turning on a tap and having water come on, or the weather outside and how it may affect water flow. It is not until something happens, like a pipe bursting and flooding the living room, that any of us start thinking about a plumbing emergency. The reality is that plumbing is one of those areas of the home that you should always have an emergency plan for because water can do a great deal of damage to the home very quickly. The question can be how to plan for a new plumber emergency and what to do if you are faced with a situation like this.

The first thing to do is to prepare for any plumber emergency. Unlike setting up for a purely natural disaster, this has very simple rules and precautions you should take. First, you should identify where your water mains are. This is quite helpful if you have a plumbing emergency because you need to be able to get to your water mains and turn off the water to prevent a great deal of damage in the event of a major leak. In addition, when you call an emergency plumbing service, the first question they'll ask you is where the water mains are to turn them off.

When facing an emergency, may very well not want to possibly be chilling looking on the internet to find the right emergency plumber to come out and fix your water problems. In fact, you may not even have that option. Water and electricity are not exactly a great combination, so we recommend not turning about your computer if there is a critical leak in the vicinity. To avoid having to look for an emergency plumber when there is a need for one, we suggest that you take down the number of an emergency plumber and store it just in case. It hurts nothing to stick to the "Sacramento Plumbing Manager " motto associated with “be prepared,” and having a number available to call if you've got a plumbing emergency just makes sense.

Research the local plumber you will be calling for an emergency. Just as in all specialists, you will want to make sure that they are able to do the job you need now instead of finding out that they cannot when you have a plumbing emergency. You will want to check insurance and licensing to make sure they are legally able to do the work, and you need to check references so you know you are getting the most dependable and reliable emergency local plumber to handle your situation. We are fully licensed and insured and you can count on us to do an excellent job.

As a final point, we recommend by no means waiting in case you have a plumbing emergency. Water can spread quickly and do a great deal associated with damage to your home. If you have some reasonably a plumbing contractor emergency, access it the phone as shortly as you possibly can, so we can send out the right person to help solve the problem quickly, efficiently, and effectively!

What Is The Fine & Negative With a Two Flush Water Closet - Local Plumber Manager

What Is The Fine & Negative With a Two Flush Water Closet - Local Plumber ManagerDouble flush toilets are exactly precisely what they claim to be: toilets that give you the option to choose from two different flushes. Why? Because, to put it plainly, it doesn't take as much water to send number one packing as it does to get rid of number two. By purchasing a toilet with both a low and high volume flush, you'll cut the water your toilet uses by more than half, not just saving you a bundle of money over the course of the toilet's lifetime, but doing some excellent from an environmental standpoint as well.

How Much Difference Can Two Separate Flushes Make?

The answer to this question is shocking. Studies of dual flush toilets show this using a dual flush system as opposed to a conventional one can reduce water consumption by up to 67%. In fact, the water savings are so substantial that several nations, such as water starved Australia, have passed laws requiring that all new toilets installed are of this variety. There are even municipalities in the United States, all from areas where drought is a major concern, where similar statutes have been passed in an effort to conserve dwindling water resources.

Growing Problem For The Industry

Dual flush toilets are exclusively just catching on in the United States and the rest of North North america. This double flush idea is relatively new technology to start with (these toilets first hit the international market little more than a decade ago), and these innovative bathroom fixtures haven't been so easy to turn up in the U.S. until recently. However, a growing concern pertaining to the condition of our environment, coupled with the widespread occurrences of drought that have plagued many areas of the United Says, have prompted a slew of companies to dive into the organization, making these pioneering toilets fairly easy to track lower for the wise homeowner looking to save money and natural resources.

 Cutting Borders Designs

The other plus of dual flush toilets is their innovative design and appearance. As they are a relatively new product, and because this soon to often be booming market is a highly competitive one, companies usually are scrambling to make them as comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and straightforward to use as possible. They come in a variety of cutting edge styles, including  differentmanire of flushing mechanisms. Newer models with two buttons, one for each flush, are highly recommended over the push/pull models, mostly because they cut down on inadvertent "misflushes," or choosing the high volume flush when it isn't needed. Sounds crazy, but if you're making a midnight trip to the bathroom or still groggy early in the morning, you don't want to have stand there and contemplate whether to push or pull the handle in order to do right by your pocketbook and the environment.

Complicated Plumbing

The only drawback connected with these toilets is the plumbing required to facilitate a dual flush system. It's much more complicated than your average toilet installation and over the head of your average do-it-yourselfer. When you choose to have a dual flush toilet installed in your home, it's best to contact a professional plumber in order to ensure that the new water and money saving toilet operates exactly the way it's supposed to and is problem free for years to come.

Planning Your Plumbing Project: The Basics man with electrical tools

Some homeowners avoid plumbing chores because they see them as difficult and messy. As a result they call in a plumber for minor problems they could easily handle themselves. Others tackle the most complex plumbing projects, often with disastrous results.

Sacramento Plumber Service

Scoping out the job
Armed with this site you can determine which projects you are comfortable with doing yourself and which are best left to pros. The complete step-by-step instructions will help you satisfactorily complete those projects you choose to do.

Typically any plumbing that is exposed (not hidden in walls) is easy to work on for a handy person with no special knowledge or skills. Faucets and traps can be dismantled, unclogged, and repaired or replaced using inexpensive tools. Trips to the hardware store for replacement parts are usually more time-consuming than the chore itself.

The work becomes more challenging when the fixtures get heftier and more complex. You can replace a bathroom sink quickly but a kitchen sink, with its mass of plumbing underneath, is a bigger job. Plumbing and fittings that are partially hidden, such as a shower faucet and its supply lines, may require carpentry, tiling, and other skills.

Anytime you install a plumbing fixture where there was none before — in other words whenever you need to run new pipes — you enter a new arena. New plumbing must conform to codes and must be inspected by a local building department.

Getting the work done
Often the most difficult part of a job is not the actual plumbing but dealing with obstacles. You may have to squeeze into cramped quarters. Use a kneeling pad, a drop cloth, or even an old pillow to make the work site as comfortable as possible. Position a flashlight or work light so you can see clearly.

There is one basic rule for most plumbing projects: Shut off the water and test to make sure the water is off. Keep a bucket and some old towels handy to catch the small amounts of water that may dribble out of pipes.

If your main drain line is clogged, have the city inspect its portion of the drain line so you don't get charged for a plumber – again this should be free.

If you have an old home or if your plumbing is too complicated for you to understand, do not hesitate to call a plumber. A plumber's hourly rate may be high, but a pro has experience with a variety of plumbing problems and can perform some tasks so quickly that it may be well worth the money.

Sacramento Furnace Inspection

Before the cold weather hits, experts recommend having a reliable and reputable technician, like the ones from Park Mechanical, service your furnace to keep it in good condition and prevent it from failing when you need it most. An annual furnace inspection will prolong the life of the system, save energy, and decrease health risks.

HVAC experts say that up to 75 percent of no-heat calls in the winter are related to a lack of maintenance. Failure to maintain your furnace can cause it to stop working suddenly, leaving your family in the cold. It can also be a health hazard. Technicians say an inspection can reveal carbon monoxide leaks, which are hard to detect because the gas is both colorless and odorless. Carbon monoxide can lead to headaches, dizziness, nausea and even death.

Not maintaining your furnace — whether it’s gas or electric — can cause it to run less efficiently, making it work even harder, therefore increasing your monthly energy bills, experts say. If you have a company out to do an inspection, some of the things included in the inspection are:

  • check the thermostat settings to make sure the system is properly running
  • inspect electrical connections and testing voltage on the system components to prevent any component failure
  • lubricate moving parts
  • inspect the condensate drain so it’s not obstructed
  • check system start-up and shutdown controls for proper operations
  • change the filter

After an HVAC technician services the furnace, there are a few steps homeowners can take to keep it running smoothly. You should be changing the air filter at least once every three months. A clogged air filter will restrict air flow, which can affect your health by exposing you to environmental contaminates.

Need Plumber For Your Plumbing System Repairs - Local Plumbing Help - 916-370-7572
Home plumbing systems periodically need maintenance and appliance upgrades which usuall requires a plumber. These chores are moderately difficult -- more involved than "easy installs" but not as complicated as a bathroom or kitchen renovation. Some projects may call for running short lengths of new supply pipe or gas pipe but no elaborate drain-waste-vent installations.Sacramento Plumber

  1.     Repairing a Gas Water Heater
  2.     Installing a Water Filter
  3.     Repairing an Electric Water Heater
  4.     Installing an On-Demand Water Heater
  5.     Replacing a Water Heater
  6.     Maintaining a Water Pump
  7.     Installing an Electric Water Heater
  8.     Maintaining a Water Softener
  9.     Increasing Water Pressure

Some building inspectors will want you to obtain a permit for any installation, no matter how small. Others don't want to conduct inspections unless an installation requires running new pipes. To be safe consult with your local building department before tackling any of the projects described in this section.

An inspector may provide valuable advice for some of the more complicated connections, such as connecting water, gas, or electric lines to a water heater or solving water pressure problems.

Call an Emergency Plumber, Regardless of When You Need Us

Emergency Plumber

Few people ever plan on needing an emergency plumber, which is not unusual but simply human nature. Society, in general, pays little attention to things like turning on a tap and having water come on, or the weather outside and how it may affect water flow. It is not until something happens, like a pipe bursting and flooding the living room, that we start thinking about a plumbing emergency. The reality is that plumbing is one of those areas of the home that you should always have an emergency plan for because water can do a great deal of damage to your home very quickly. The question is how to plan for a plumbing emergency and what to do if you are faced with a situation like this.

The first thing to do is to prepare for a plumbing emergency. Unlike planning for a natural disaster, this has very simple rules and precautions you should take. First, you should identify where your water mains are. This is very helpful if you have a plumbing emergency because you need to be able to get to your water mains and turn off the water to prevent a great deal of damage in the event of a major leak. In addition, when you call an emergency plumber, the first question they will ask you is where the water mains are to turn them off.

When faced with an emergency, you may not want to be spending time looking on Google to find the right emergency plumber to come out and fix your water problems. In fact, you may not even have that option. Water and electricity are not exactly a great combination, so we recommend not turning on your computer if there is a severe leak in the vicinity. To avoid having to look for an emergency plumber when there is a need for one, we suggest that you take down the number of an emergency plumber and store it just in case. It hurts absolutely nothing to follow the Boy Scouts' motto of “be prepared,” and having a number on hand to call if you have a plumbing emergency just makes sense.

Research the plumber you will be calling for an emergency. Like with all professionals, you will want to make sure that they are able to do the job you need now instead of finding out that they cannot when you have a plumbing emergency. You will want to check insurance and licensing to make sure they are legally able to do the work, and you need to check references so you know you are getting the most trusted and reliable emergency plumber to handle your situation. We are fully licensed and insured and you can count on us to do an excellent job.

Finally, we recommend never waiting if you have a plumbing emergency. Water can spread quickly and do a great deal of damage to your home. If you have some kind of a plumbing emergency, get on the phone as soon as possible, so we can send out the right person to help solve the problem quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

Emergency Plumber Service – Well I Hate To Say Most Home Owners End Up Calling an Emergency Plumber ServiceEmergency Plumber When They Think They Can Do a Simple Plumbing Job Them Selves.  In My Experience From Owning a Plumbing Company 1/3 Of Our Plumbing Customers Came From Home Owners Calling My Emergency Plumbing Service Because They Could Not Do The Plumbing Job There Self.  For All The Husbonds Out There Listen To Your Wives Call The Emergency Plumbing Company!!  : )

Calling a Emergency Plumber Sometimes Should Be a “No Brainer”

The leak from a pipe fitting that costs less than a dollar can easily cause thousands of dollars in water damage, disrupt your household for weeks, and throw your remodel way off schedule. So hiring a licensed, insured master plumber (or a well-trained apprentice working under his license) is a no-brainer. But not all plumbers handle all types of work. Their duties break out into two categories: Plumbers who handle basic repairs (often in emergency situations), and plumbers who specialize in remodeling projects and additions.

The Family Plumber

For everyday drips and clogs, you can save the cost of a plumber by doing the work yourself. On this site, you’ll find a guide to ending toilet and faucet leaks. Beyond this kind of repair, you have to know when to call in a pro. Plumbing isn’t difficult, but it requires a lot of knowledge. Code requirements are just a small part; you also need parts knowledge and experience with the materials. For instance, knowing how hard you can crank on PVC before it cracks takes time to master. Not having a feel for this can turn a $10 repair into a flood of problems.

Be prepared for a more urgent situation by establishing a relationship with a plumber before you actually need him. If possible, hire him to do nonemergency repairs or fixture installations during normal hours. It’s easier to get a plumber’s attention if you’re a regular customer and not a panicked stranger calling at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night asking him to fix a gushing waste pipe in your basement.

Plumbing Tools A DYI Plumber Should Have “Sacramento Plumbing Manager”

As a 25 Year Plumber & Now a “Sacramento Plumbing Manager” I give help when I can Sacramento Plumbingtoo New Plumbers.  Being a Plumber Is harder then people think. As a plumbing manager and owning a plumbing business for over 10 years I have seen it all and I like to share my experiences. Here is some DYI tips if your trying to do you own little plumbing jobs at home.

Plumbing tools are a godsend when a sink clogs or toilet overflows on weekends, holidays, or just before dinner guests arrive. For big problems, like a burst pipe, shut off your water (know where your shutoff valve is) and call a plumber. But you can fix everyday annoyances if you add these basic plumbing tools to your fix-it arsenal.
1. Plungers: No home should be without these suckers/pushers whose rubber cups form a seal around the drain or toilet. Use a cup plunger to push clogs through sinks and tubs; use a flange plunger, with a non-splash ball cup, for toilets. Use a bellows plunger when the other two don’t work. Cost: Cup, $3 to $4; flange, $8 to $15; bellows, $7 to $11.

2. Closet auger: Named for “water closet,” this 3-foot plumbing tool has a crank, handle, and flexible shaft tipped with an “auger bit” that breaks and grabs troublesome toilet clogs. Cost: $10 to $20.

3. Hand auger, aka plumber’s snake: A hand-powered crank and reel of ¼-inch steel cable clears obstructions from sink, tub, and shower drains. Cost: $15 to $30.

4. Hacksaw: This go-to saw cuts through just about anything—metal pipe, hardware, nuts, or bolts. Keep blades tight in the frame, and keep extras on hand. Cost: $15 to $30. Blades: $5 for 2.

5. Adjustable pipe wrench: The serrated mouth on this iconic plumbing tool grips pipes. It has one fixed jaw and one that moves by turning a thumb screw. Buy two—one for gripping and holding, one for turning. Cost: $17 to $35.

6. Hex key or Allen wrench set: Thin L-shaped wrenches with hexagonal heads often are used to fix stuck garbage disposals. Cost: $5 to $15 for a set of 6 to 7 wrenches.

7. Caulking gun: A metal frame and trigger holds and applies caulk, which seals seams around the edges of tubs and sinks. Cost: $15 to $25.

8. Tongue-and-goove pliers: Also called water pump pliers or channel locks, these pliers with a right-angled and serrated jaw can turn, hold, twist, or loosen nuts, bolts, fittings, and frozen parts. Buy the 10-inch and 12-inch. Cost: 10-inch $10; 12-inch $10 to $14.

I am a 25 year Sacramento Plumbing Manager & I have used these tricks when not having the correct tools to fix a clogged drain so they do work at times and it can be worth trying if you have these simple items at home because it can save you hundreds if you have to call a plumber.

  1. Sometimes a coat hanger will clear a drain when a plumbing snake isn’t available. Straighten the metal, bend a small hook in the end with pliers, and poke it in and out of the drain as far as it will go.
  2. A 2-liter soda bottle makes an excellent adjustable air pillow to keep your head clean and neck comfortable when working under cabinets and in difficult positions.
  3. An afghan hook, available at knitting and fabric stores, is the perfect tool for removing hair and other debris from a tub drain with a cover that is tough or impossible to remove.
  4. If you’re stuck in a bind without your favorite penetrating oil, try lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide or kerosene to cut through rust and corrosion.
  5. A cracked plastic bucket can be repaired with a hot table knife. Heat the knife with a candle and press it against the crack rubbing slowly back and forth until it is sealed.
Toothpaste applied with a damp rag will put the shine back on your hand tools. For really tough deposits, try oven cleaner.

HVAC Filter

The air filters in your HVAC system are the first and most effective measure in protecting your heating and cooling system. Any HVAC professional will tell you to change your filters often. Using fresh filters will greatly extend its life expectancy and this preventative maintenance can save you money on repairs or down the road. Not to forget to mention, they help keep up the air quality in your home.

Although some products claim to be effective for ninety days or even longer, most experts recommend changing your filters every thirty days. Regardless, you should inspect your filters regularly. The age of your HVAC system and the level of usage will determine how much wear and tear a filter suffers. You’ll know your filters need to be replaced when it’s coated in thick dust. When a filter is clogged up, not only is it no longer doing its job, it is decreasing the efficiency of your heating system as the dust starts to absorb heat. It also becomes a fire hazard.

What filter is best for your home? There are a variety of filters to choose from depending on your budget and desired air quality.

  • Fiberglass Filters:
    • these are your standard filters for a homeowner on a budget. They’re composed of several layers of fiberglass mesh. These filter particles by physically trapping them in a dense net. While fiberglass filters are better than nothing, they tend to clog quickly and allow a large percentage of smaller particulates pass through.
  • Electrostatic Filters:
    • these filters are made from a material that generates an electrostatic charge as air flows through them. This static acts like a magnet for dust particles, attracting them and locking them into the filter. These are generally considered more effective than fiberglass filters, especially for residents with asthma, allergies or other respiratory problems. They should still be replaced at least monthly to get their full benefit.
  • Electronic Filters:
    • these filters operate by either drawing particles in with an artificially generated electrostatic charge, or by passing air through an ionizing device to charge the air around it and create an attraction between airborne particles and the filter. In either case, these filters are plugged into a power source and can be cleaned instead of replaced. These are generally considered the top of the line in filtration systems, and come with a increase in price.
  • Specialty Filters:
    • there are a number of companies offering specialized filters to combat specific air quality issues. Some come pretreated with disinfectants so they not only capture particulate matter but also kill airborne bacteria or viruses that pass through, making them a good choice for the immune-suppressed, or households with children or elderly residents. Filters containing activated charcoal or carbon are available that can reduce foul odors if a household has that problem. HEPA and micro-particle filters are generally considered the best for improving air quality in the home, and can even be found as freestanding air purifiers if you don’t want to have one built into your HVAC.

Ultimately your choice in air filter comes down to budget vs. quality. For most homeowners, a standard fiberglass filter will do the trick, but for homes with older ductwork or residents with special respiratory needs, you may need to upgrade to a more effective and therefore more expensive alternative.

‘Joe the Plumber’ shares conservative views on Cameron Park Plumbers

Conservatives in Wausau on Thursday decried President Barack Obama’s economic policies at a gathering hosted by the conservative free-market group Americans for Prosperity.

The event, called “Pints and Politics,” brought to town Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, known during the 2008 presidential campaign as “Joe the Plumber.”

“Obama right now is talking about, he can generate more revenue by taxing the top 2 to 3 percent of Americans,” Wurzelbacher said. “Well, you know, that’s immoral. Just because someone’s worked hard, gotten ahead — it’s not your money.” …

Replacing a Wax Wring On a Toilet – DIY Plumber Help

This really is a good do-it-yourself project because it isn’t hard and you can head off damage if you replace the seal as soon you can, rather than waiting for a plumber. You can do the task with a little bit of knowledge and some fairly simple steps. I have been plumbing for over 25 years & as a Sacramento Plumber Manager for a plumbing out fit here in Sacramento, Ca wax rings is a job a plumber gets all the time.Sacramento Plumber

The seal, on the bottom of a toilet, where it rests on the floor, is a gasket made of a ring of wax. You can buy a replacement at a hardware store. Make sure the wax ring comes with wax bolts.

This inexpensive seal can help prevent damage to flooring and sub-flooring…expensive items to repair if a leak is not repaired right away. Be sure to do this procedure when the temperature is at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit so the wax will be pliable.

Sacramento Plumber Calls are 15% Toilet Leaks or Problems

If you are replacing a leaky seal on an existing toilet, you will want to wear rubber gloves and start at Part 1; if you are installing a toilet in new construction, skip to Part 2.

Part 1

Be sure to shut off the water supply. You might be able to do this at the toilet, but you might need go into the crawl space or basement to cut off the water.

  •  Flush the toilet once or twice to empty the tank and bowl.
  •  Use a sponge to soak up and remove any remaining water in the tank and bowl
Remove the caps over the nuts that hold the base of the bowl to the floor.
  •  Remove the nuts. You might need to use penetrating oil and pliers.
    Disconnect the water supply line.
  • Gently rock the toilet back and forth to break the seal and any caulking present. Use care to grip the bowl and not the tank. If you grab the tank, you could break or crack the tank where it is bolted to the bowl.
  • Remove the remnants of the old seal from both mating surfaces. Go to Part 2.

    Part 2

Unwrap the new wax seal, and place it over the flange on the floor with the round side up, exactly centered over the opening. Be sure both bolts are in place.

  • Lift the toilet and place it over the flange and seal, keeping the toilet as level as possible.
Sit on the toilet to help the new seal do its actual sealing.
  • Ensure the bowl is level.
  •  Replace the nuts removed earlier. Tighten the nuts by hand to avoid cracking the base of the bowl.
    Reconnect water line.
  •  Turn on water supply to let tank fill. You can turn the water supply on part way to let the tank fill with lower pressure. This will take a bit longer, but the part-way setting helps prevent the dreaded “Who just flushed?” scream from another household member that may be scalded in the shower because of a surge in the cold water going into the toilet tank.
  •  Flush and check for leaks.
  •    Apply silicone caulk as needed to junction of bowl and floor.
Wash hands with an anti-bacterial soap.

Few Steps On How To Fix a Leaky Faucet, Plumber Advice

5 Steps on How to Fix a Leaky Faucet

Whether it’s the cause of water pooling under your sink, or the annoying dripping sound that keeps you up at night, a leaky faucet is a nuisance that could turn into a full-blown problem if not addressed properly. Fortunately, putting a stop to a leaky faucet, such as the compression faucet in your kitchen, can be surprisingly inexpensive and simple.

Tool a Plumber Will Use When Fixing a Faucet

• Adjustable wrench; C wrench

• Phillips and/or flat-head screwdriver

• Penetrating oil, such as WD-40 or CRC

• Replacement washers and O-rings

Step 1: Don’t make a mess worse by transforming your broken faucet into Old Faithful. Before applying any wrench or screwdriver to your fixture, make sure your water supply is turned off, from the handles over the sink to the knobs underneath that control the water coming in from the main line.

Step 2: Remove any decorative parts of the handle knobs. A simple prying with a flat-head screwdriver will take care of that. Underneath each knob, there will be a screw that mounts the handle to the stem. Unscrew, then gently remove the handle with your flat-head. Using penetrating oil can assist in loosening it, allowing you to take the faucet handle off the stem.

Step 3: Use your wrench to loosen the packing nut. From there you should notice the stem. Remove that as well. Depending on the faucet, some stems pop right off, while others twist off from the valve. Check the removed parts for any damage.

Step 4: If everything is intact at this point, inspect the O-ring and washer inside the valve seat—they could be the reason for your leak. Remove the washer and put a replacement inside the seat.

It’s crucial to make sure your replacement washers and O-rings are an exact fit. If you are unsure about either, check the seat to see if the sides fit a cone-shaped or flat washer, and purchase the appropriate type. A Plumber would want to take the old O-ring to your local hardware store to verify the correct size. You can also buy a package including many different sizes of O-rings—sometimes it’s worth the extra few bucks.

Step 5: From here, carefully reassemble all the parts (in order of washer/O-ring, stem, packing nut, screw, and handle). Slowly and gently turn the knob to test the running water and check to see if you’ve licked that leak.

Don’t Get Frustrated If You Have To Call a Professional Plumber

If, after all of your hard work, you notice the faucet is still dripping, then the cause may be corrosion in your valve seat. If not cleaned over time, it can produce leaks near the spout. Other potential problems are worn-out seals, loose parts, or, even worse, broken plumbing. If your troubleshooting leads to these areas, or if other sudden complications occur, then it may be time to call a professional plumber.

Furnace Maintenance

Dirt is the biggest enemy of your furnace. It can waste fuel and drastically lower efficiency. Dirt affects all three basic components of your furnace, so cleaning is the most important part of regular maintenance. The three parts of the furnace that should be cleaned are the filter system, the blower, and the motor. A certified technician from Park Mechanical can handle the maintenance of your unit so you don’t have to deal with the hassle.

The furnace filter should be replaced or cleaned at the beginning of the heating season and about once a month during periods of continuous use. To check the filter, the technician would take it out and hold it up to the light. If it looks clogged, it’ll be replaced with a new filter of the same type and size regardless of the length of time it has been used.

The technician would then clean the blower assembly, belts and pulleys to the blower, and motor housing. Cleaning the blower is critical if your furnace has a squirrel-cage fan, because openings in this type of blower often become clogged with dirt. To clean the blower, the panel that covers filter will be removed to gain access to the blower or panel on front of the furnace. This panel may be using slip-fit on hooks or it may be held by a series of screws. Access to the inside of the blower is usually gained by sliding out the fan unit. If the power cord to fan assembly is not long enough to permit the fan unit to slide all the way out, then the cord will be disconnected. Wipe the motor housing clean to prevent any heat build up in the motor.
